FSU Volleyball Earns Split Against Nationally-Ranked Foes On Day One At Colorado Premier

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad earned a split in day one action at the prestigious Colorado Premier Challenge on Friday (Sept. 8) in Denver against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents.

FSU, which was listed just outside the top 25 in the AVCA national poll this past week, swept 22nd-ranked Western Washington in the opener before falling to second-ranked Concordia-St. Paul by a 3-1 count on Friday night.

In the opener, Ferris State claimed a 25-13, 25-22, 25-11 win over Western Washington while totaling 41 kills in the win. Olivia Henneman-Dallape paced FSU in the opener with 10 kills while Chelsie Freeman added nine kills and both Claire Nowicki along with Syann Fairfield managed eight kills apiece.

FSU's Kaylee Maat finished the first match with 33 assists while libero Leah Bylut totaled a team-leading 13 digs in the win.

In match two, CSUP pulled out a 25-23 win in the opening frame before the Bulldogs tied the match back up with a 25-19 victory in the second. However, the Golden Bears earned identical 25-18 wins in the third and fourth sets to put the match away.

Henneman-Dallape again led the Bulldogs in the contest with 18 kills, but was the lone FSU player to reach double-digits in the category. Bylut had 14 digs and Maat finished with 37 assists overall.

The Bulldogs will be back in action for day two competition on Saturday (Sept. 9) in Denver against an opponent still to be determined. FSU will play two more matches again on the final day of the Colorado Premier Challenge.
