Bulldog Softball Closes Trip To Florida With Saturday Split At The Spring Games

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team closed its annual spring trip to Florida on Saturday (March 11), recording a split at The Spring Games while wrapping up a 12-game stretch in the Sunshine State.

The Bulldogs notched their most decisive win to date with a 10-1 regional triumph in five innings over Walsh in the opener before falling to Felician 4-1 in the finale.

Ferris State had nine hits in the opener with both Abby Meyer and Kylie Winkels garnering two hits each. Meyer scored three times while the trio of Jadyn Joseph, Abby Mitchell and Maddie Gkekas all drove in two runs apiece.

The Bulldogs got doubles from Joseph and Winkels in the game one win while Meyer registered a triple. FSU also stole five bases.

Ferris State's Aryn Gallacher pitched all five innings, giving up only a single earned run on three hits with four strikeouts for the win.

In game two, the Bulldogs matched Felician with six hits, but fell 4-1 in the game. Meyer posted a team-leading two hits and also drew a walk.

FSU utilized four different pitchers in the night camp and the unit combined to allow only three earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

The Bulldogs are next slated to face Lewis (Ill.) in a regional road doubleheader on March 15 in Romeoville, Ill.
