Ferris State Drops Finale At Blue Bridge Battle Against Tiffin In Regional Play

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball squad closed out the Blue Bridge Battle on Sunday (Feb. 25) with a 10-7 regional setback to Tiffin in Evansville, Ind.

The Bulldogs, who had posted a split in each of the first two days of the event, jumped in front 2-0 after two innings of work against the Dragons and led 4-3 going into the fourth before Tiffin answered. TU notched four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to grab the lead.

Ferris State tried to rally, scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh in its final at-bat, but it was not enough as the Dragons held on for the win. Overall, Tiffin had 13 hits and FSU nine for the game.

Bulldog shortstop Emma Gillard produced a team-high three hits for the Bulldogs and both second baseman Jadyn Joseph along with Catherine O'Donohue had two hits each. O'Donohue homered and drove in four runs while both Gillard and Alexis Kozlowski had doubles in the game. FSU's Brooklyn Verbeek joined Joseph in scoring twice.

A trio of pitchers saw action for the Bulldogs with Rylie Haist, O'Donohue and Izzy Regner all combining to allow six earned runs on 13 hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

The Bulldogs will head to Florida to take part in the USSSA Space Coast Spring Games set for March 3-9 in Melbourne, Fla.
