Bulldog Softball Wins Two Games At Parkside In GLIAC Road Sweep

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team opened up a four-game road swing this weekend with a sweep over Parkside on Saturday (April 22) in Kenosha, Wis.

FSU took the opening game by a 5-2 score and won game two 3-1 against the Rangers. Overall, the Bulldogs have now won five of their last six contests to date and the game two win represented FSU's 20th victory of the campaign.

Ferris State scored twice in the second, twice in the fifth and once in the sixth in the opening game, producing 11 hits in the game and holding UWP to only five.

Four Bulldogs recorded two hits each in the triumph, including Kaitlyn Orme, Evelyn Blood, Kylie Winkels and Jadyn Joseph. Winkels doubled and drove in two runs while Kacey Bouche posted a triple in the victory.

FSU also got a strong pitching performance from Aryn Gallacher, who tossed all seven innings in the circle and allowed no earned runs on five hits. She struck out two and walked two.

The Bulldogs came back in game two and scored twice in the second to take the early lead. From there, the two teams each posted a single run and finished with six hits each.

Shortstop Abby Meyer led the Bulldogs at the plate in game two with hits and two RBI's. Winkels doubled and Joseph added an RBI for the Bulldogs.

FSU's Catherine O'Donohue earned the win, tossing four innings and allowing a single earned run on four hits with three strikeouts. Kristie Gray hurled two scoreless innings and gave up only two hits while Gallacher got the save with a scoreless and hitless inning of work.

Ferris State will wrap up the weekend trip on Sunday (April 23) as the Bulldogs take on Purdue Northwest in Hammond, Ind. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. (ET) for the opening game of the conference doubleheader.
