Ferris State Posts Non-League Road Split At Tiffin

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's softball team earned a non-conference road split on Thursday (March 16) against the Tiffin Dragons in Ohio.

The Bulldogs registered a 12-9 triumph in the opener before narrowly falling 4-3 in the nightcap.

The two teams combined for 33 hits in game one with FSU owning a 18-15 edge overall.

Both Jadyn Joseph and Kaitlyn Orme tallied three hits each as did catcher Kaitlyn Fick for the Bulldogs. Both Fick and Maddie Gkekas drove in three runs for the Bulldogs. FSU got homeruns from Kylie Winkels and Gkekas while both Jospeh and Orme recorded triples in the win.

FSU's Kristie Gray earned the win in the circle, tossing three innings and allowing only a single earned run on three hits. A trio of hurlers combined to allow nine earned runs overall on 15 hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

In game two, both teams were limited to six hits apiece. TU took a 2-1 lead after the first inning and added single runs in the third and the sixth for the win.

Jospeh led the Bulldogs in game two with a pair of hits while Orme, Gkekas and Natalie Teague all had RBI's. Evelyn Blood doubled for the Bulldogs.

In the pitching circle, Catherine O'Donohue tossed all six innings and struck out eight while allowing three earned runs on six hits.

The Bulldogs are currently slated to host Northwood in their home opener on Wednesday, March 22, starting at 2 p.m. (ET) for game one at the FSU Softball Field.
