Bulldog Softball Garners GLIAC Road Split At Ohio Dominican

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball team recorded its second consecutive regional road split in Ohio as the Bulldogs bounced back for a game two win over Ohio Dominican on Wednesday (April 12) to wrap up a non-league doubleheader in Columbus.

Ferris State dropped the opener 5-4 to the Panthers before coming back to notch a 10-4 win in the nightcap.

In the opener, the Bulldogs tallied nine hits overall and limited ODU to six, but Ohio Dominican fought back from a 4-3 deficit in the sixth to garner the win.

Four Bulldogs recorded mutli-hit games with the opener with freshman Jadyn Joseph notching three overall. Second baseman Josie Prince along with first baseman Evelyn Blood and third baseman Brooklyn Verbeek each had two. Additionally, Verbeek drove in two runs while Kacey Bouche had a sacrifice hit in the tilt. FSU also stole four bases.

Senior Kristie Gray tossed two and one-third innings for FSU in the setback, allowing only two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts. Catherine O'Donohue also allowed two earned runs on two hits with a single strikeout in pitching three and two-thirds inning. Marlee Jacobs went the distance for ODU, giving up two earned runs on nine hits while striking out 11 Bulldog batters.

Ferris State bounced back for a 10-4 win in game two, scoring three runs each in both the sixth and the seventh innings for the win, breaking a 4-4 deadlock. The Panthers finished with 13 hits to 12 for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs received two hits each from Abby Meyer along with Joseph, O'Donohue and Katelyn Gabos. O'Donohue, Bouche and first baseman Kaitlyn Orme all had two RBI's each.

FSU's Sophie Wisniski earned the win, holding the Panthers scoreless on two hits in one and one-third innings of relief action. O'Donohue got the save as she also allowed no runs on two hits in one and two-thirds innings. Aubrie Lafferty went four innings for the Bulldogs, giving up four earned runs on nine hits.

The Bulldogs will be in action on Saturday (April 15) as they resume GLIAC play at Davenport with first pitch for the opener set for 1 p.m. (ET). FSU then hosts rival Grand Valley State in conference action on Sunday (April 16) starting at 1 p.m. (ET) at the FSU Softball Field.
