Bulldog Women's Tennis Drops Two Exhibition Tilts At NCAA D1 Eastern Michigan

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad fell to NCAA Division I Eastern Michigan in a pair of exhibition matches on Sunday (Jan. 28) in Ypsilanti.

The Bulldogs dropped a 6-1 decision in the opener and a 4-0 contest in the finale against the Eagles at the Chippewa Club.

In the opener, the Bulldogs' Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer emerged victorious at five singles with a win over EMU's Sabina Brichackova by a 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 decision.

"The overall match scores don't represent how well we played today," said FSU head coach Mark Doren. "We have been focusing on how we are able to take the ups and downs throughout a match and we did a great job competing against Division I level talent.

"A big shout out to Maria for her victory today," he added. "She showed great composure against a tough player in the contest."

The two matches wrapped up FSU's exhibition season against NCAA D1 competition.

Ferris State will hit he court again on Sunday (Feb. 4) with a regional showdown versus Indianapolis beginning at 12 p.m. (ET) in Indy.
