LOCATION: Fisher Stadium – Midland, Mich.

RECAP: Softball goes 1-1 against Purdue Northwest Wednesday afternoon (April 27), taking game one 8-3 before dropping game two 10-3.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Timberwolves got on the board with a Haley Frank RBI double and a Karlie Moore sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first to go up 2-0
  • The Pride responded with one run on two hits in the top of the second.
  • Madison Jordan hit a solo home run to left-center to extend the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the inning.
  • Purdue Northwest evened the game with two runs in the top of the third.
  • A double by Jordan and a single by Alexis Koehler put two on base in the fourth. They were then brought home with a Haley Frank three-run homer to center field as NU went up 6-3.
  • Frank continued her strong game with an RBI single to score Gabby Schloop in the bottom of the sixth.
  • Koehler then scored on a wild pitch to make the final score 8-3.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

  • PNW got going early with two runs in the top of the first inning.
  • The Pride then made it 4-0 in the third.
  • Haley Frank stayed hot in the second game, plating two runs with a single to left field in the bottom of the third to get NU within two at 4-2.
  • Purdue Northwest responded with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth.
  • The Prided added two more in the fifth to get their lead to 8-2.
  • Brittany Steimel got one back for Northwood in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single.
  • NU had a great chance to cut into the lead even more in the sixth, loading the bases with one out after the Steimel RBI single, but the Timberwolves were unable to add on, 8-3 PNW.
  • PNW would add two more in the seventh with a double to left-center, 10-3 NU. Northwood would not be able to overcome the deficit.
