RECAP: The Northwood men's soccer team played Purdue Northwest in their home opener on Sunday (September 3). The Timberwolves left with a draw following a 90' header by Joe Daulby.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood would be the first to find the back of the net in the 28'. Oliver Jarvis would score after he blocked a clearance kick from the Pride goalkeeper. Jarvis would then get an easy goal to put the Timberwolves out in front, 1-0 NU.
  • PNW would let the lead last long applying pressure to score their own just 28 seconds later, 1-1.
  • Going into the break Northwood had six corners compared to the Pride's one, but the Timberwolves only managed one shot on goal during the half.
  • 10 minutes into the second half, Gjon Melakuqi drove down the right side crossing it to Oliver Jarvis before giving it up to Amedeo Crovasce to give the Timberwolves back the lead, 2-1 NU.
  • It didn't take long for the Pride to answer that goal either, the Pride would tie it in the 61'.
  • The Pride would take their first lead of the match with just over 10 minutes remaining, 3-2.
  • Northwood outshot the Pride 18-12, but only five were on target versus PNW's 8 on target.
  • The Timberwolves kept trying to get their offense going to tie it. That they would, following the Timberwolves ninth and 10th corners of the game. Robert Gjelaj was pulled from the goal to help the offense capitalize. Chris Escalante's cross into the box would be knocked in by a leaping header by Daulby just past the one-minute mark.
  • The Timberwolves would hold for the draw in the final 57 seconds.
