Men's Soccer Defeats Lake Erie 2-1

The Northwood University men's soccer team earned a comeback 2-1 win over Lake Erie Friday night (October 5).

Northwood is now 5-3-1 overall, 5-3 in the GLIAC. Lake Erie falls to 2-9 overall, 1-7 in the GLIAC.

The Timberwolves controlled the play for the most part in the first half, but the Storm would take the lead in the 40th minute off a turnover. Northwood held a 10-3 advantage in shots and a 2-0 edge in corner kicks in the half.

The score remained 1-0 until the 74th minute when freshman Sam Nair (London, England/Nower Hill) took over. He beat the keeper with a shot off a rebound at 73:03 to even the score 1-1. Less than eight minutes later, Nair scored what proved to be the game winner. He chipped a well-placed ball from Michtell Brent (Milton Keynes, England) over the keeper from a tough angle to make the score 2-1. It was Nair's team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Northwood travels to Urbana Monday afternoon (October 8). Game time is set for 4 p.m.
