RECAP: Northwood baseball drops high-scoring game at Grand Valley State Tuesday (April 11), falling 19-11. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Grand Valley State started the game fast, plating three runs in the bottom of the first.
  • Northwood responded in the top of the second with a pair of runs. Alex Cole had an RBI double, which was followed by an RBI groundout by David Jeffers to make the score 2-0.
  • The Lakers scored two in the third and one in the fourth to push their advantage to 6-2.
  • The Timberwolves responded with a big inning in the fifth, plating four runs. Matt Magno and Blake Salamon had back to back home runs to start the scoring. NU later scored a pair on two wild pitches to tie the game at 6-6.
  • After the Lakers plated a run in the fifth to take the lead back, Northwood responded with a Myles Beale RBI single that tied the score once again at 7-7.
  • The key stretch of the game started in the bottom of the sixth, when the Lakers scored five runs. NU was then held off the board in the top of the seventh, after which GVSU added five more runs to take a 17-7 lead.
  • Northwood did get one back in the eighth on a bases loaded walk from Joey Johnston, but the Lakers followed with two more runs to push the advantage to 19-8.
  • NU brought home a pair in the ninth inning on a Scott Selleck double to get the Timberwolves into double figures at 19-10.
  • Alex Jarboe rounded out the scoring with an RBI double to make the final 19-11
