Findlay Falls on Road at #12 GVSU

The University of Findlay football team fell to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play following a 52-7, Oct. 24th loss to the #12 ranked Lakers of Grand Valley State University.

The Oilers, who entered the game averaging 525 yards per game, were held to just 250 total yards.

Sophomore quarterback Rhys Gervais felt the pressure all game as he was sacked six times in the contest. He completed 16 passes, including one touchdown, for 170 yards. Gervais' favorite target was senior receiver Dylan Blunk, who hauled in five catches for 63 yards.

Sophomore Anthony Federico played another solid game as the tight end caught five passes for 58 yards, including a third quarter touchdown.

Leading the rushing attack was freshman Marcus Jones who carried the ball 11 times for 46 yards while senior Daiquone Ford picked up 36 yards on ten carries.

Findlay's defense was led by sophomore Aaron Ivory who pick up eight tackles in the game, four of which were solo tackles. He also had a forced fumble, a goal line stand in the fourth quarter. Freshman Anthony Kastelic also collected eight tackles, five solo, in the contest. Two of his tackles were for loss.

The Oilers are back in action next Saturday, the 31st of October, as they travel to Wayne State for a GLIAC contest set to begin at noon.
