Whited Sets New School Record As Oilers Win Doubleheader Against Lake Erie

The University of Findlay softball team traveled to Painesville, Ohio to face Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Lake Erie College in a doubleheader on Friday, April 18.  The Oilers walloped the Storm in the first game 11-1 and edged them in the second game 3-2. 

In the first game, Tawna Whited picked up the victory on the mound by only giving up one run in six innings.  Whited contributed an RBI single on the offensive end. 

Emily Reynolds had a huge game at the plate knocking in a grand slam in the first inning, which catapulted the Oilers for the win. 

Anna Britvec also led the offense for the Oilers finishing the game with a two RBI single while Courtney Dwyer added a single, a double and two runs scored. 

Lauren Trumpler had two singles and one run batted in while Tori Allen added two singles and three runs scored in the contest.

The Oilers bats dominated offensively with a 10-4 advantage in hits. 

In the second game, Tawna Whited picked up the victory on the mound, giving up zero runs and striking out one hitter in 1.2 innings.  With her 45th career win tonight, Whited set a new school record in career victories, breaking Stephanie Dyer's record at 44 set in 1996. 

The Storm took a 2-1 lead through five innings, but the Oilers bounced back in the final two innings of the game to claim the victory for head coach Ron Ammons' 200th win. 

Tori Allen helped lead the offense, finishing the game with an RBI double while Megan Turner finished with an RBI single. 

Emily Reynolds added a single and one run scored while Courtney Dwyer had a double and one run scored in the contest.  Whited contributed on the offensive end with a single and one run score. 

The Oilers, who are now 16-13 on the year with an 8-10 mark in GLIAC play, will travel to Canton, Ohio to face GLIAC foe Walsh University in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 19 beginning at 1 p.m.
