Pioneers Edge Findlay in Canton

The University of Findlay women's basketball team fell short at Malone University on Saturday, Feb. 1, losing 71-65.  The loss evens the Oilers record at 9-9 on the season with a 6-8 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers only shot 31.7 percent (19-of-60) from the floor, but they did force 22 turnovers.  Findlay also connected on 20-of-31 (64.5%) shot attempts from the free throw line and came away with nine steals in the loss.

Junior guard Ciara Geiger led the Oilers with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting.  She hit 4-of-6 shot attempts from behind the three point line and also added four rebounds, three steals, an assist and a block.

Sophomore forward Margaret Wuebker also reached double figures with 12 points.  She also contributed four rebounds, two steals and two blocks in the game.

Freshman guard Karli Bonar nearly reached double figures with nine points while sophomore forward Kelsey Lewis had six points and three boards.

The Pioneers show 40.7 percent (24-of-59) from the field and were led by Sydnee Penn, who stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals.

The Oilers will host Hillsdale College on Monday at 6 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
