Dragons dominate Cavaliers 35-7

Tiffin University (4-2, 3-2 GLIAC) jumped out to 28 unanswered points in a decisive win at Walsh 35-7, beating the Cavaliers for the first time on the road.

Tiffin put together a balanced offensive attack that racked up 430 yards including 256 on the ground. The Dragons defense also got in on the fun, holding Walsh to 100 yards rushing while posting 2 interceptions and a sack.

TU capped off a 12 play, 74 yard drive with a 2 yard pass completion from Antonio Pipkin to JaQuan Hardy to make it 7-0 at the 7:42 mark of the opening quarter. Hardy added another TD on a 2 yard run at the 1:15 mark to make it 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Pipkin hit on the second of three touchdown tosses at the 9:21 mark of the second quarter, as he found Charles Holland on a 9 yard pass to give TU their halftime lead of 21-0.

TU picked up right where they left off in the third quarter, taking the opening drive 72 yards on just 5 plays as Pipkin hit Holland again on a 38 yard strike at the 12:28 mark to pull ahead 28-0.

After Walsh took advantage of a TU fumble to mount a drive leading to a 13 yard TD run with 2:05 left in the 3rd quarter, the Dragons answered quickly, with Hardy busting a big 63 yard run leading to a Kyle Brunson 4 yard TD run with 33 seconds left in the quarter to finish the scoring.

Overall TU outgained Walsh 430-264 and had 20 first downs to Walsh's 16. TU converted on 7 of 12 third down attempts while holding the Cavaliers to just 4 for 14 on third downs.

Hardy finished with 123 yards rushing on 11 carries (11.2 yards per rush) while Brunson had 50 yards rushing (6.3 average) along with 42 yards receiving. Holland finished with 72 yards receiving and 2 TDs, while Pipkin went 14 for 22 with no interceptions for 155 yards and 3 TDs.

Carrington Contee and Shawn Scott each had interceptions, while Jacob Mertus led the team with 10 tackles and a tackle for loss. Morgan Loyd also had 9 tackles, while Jalen Randolph added 6 stops. Ross Moore also posted a sack.
