Tiffin Topples Puerto Rico-Humacao

The Tiffin University men's basketball team finished their Puerto Rico trip on a high note, defeating Puerto Rico-Humacao 74-69.

The Dragons led early, with an Ellis Williams' jumper putting Tiffin ahead 34-25. Puerto Rico-Humacao was able to rally, as they trailed 40-37 at the halftime buzzer. Tiffin was led in scoring by Khaleal McCormick with seven points at the break, and Travon Howard and Ellis Williams each poured in six points. TU hit 45.8% of their shots, with Humacao connecting on 48.1% of their shots from their field . The glaring difference between the teams was Humacoas's effectiveness from beyond the arc. Humacao hit four three point shots, and the Dragons were only able to hit one deep jumper.

In the 2nd half, Puerto Rico-Humacao cut the Dragon lead to one point twice before taking a one point lead 46-45. Tiffin used a 10-6 run to regain their lead at 55-50. The Dragons never relinquished control of the game, holding a one point lead four different times on their way to a 74-69 win. 

Tiffin was led in scoring by Tony Kynard scoring 14 points, going 10-13 from the free throw line. Khaleal McCormick  added 11 points, needing only 25 more points to reach 1,000 career points. Juwan Johnson had a great game at the charity stripe, finishing 5 of 6, scoring 10 points. The Dragons held a commanding 42-28 lead on the boards, leading to 12 second chance points.

The win moves the Dragons to 3-3 overall. Tiffin will be back in action on December 1, traveling to Northwood University.
