Softball Goes 1-1 Versus Davenport

OVERVIEW – Davenport Panthers
SCORES: Northwood Timberwolves 10, Davenport Panthers 8/Davenport Panthers 9, Northwood Timberwolves 2
RECORDS: Northwood (19-11, 5-7 GLIAC), Davenport (16-18, 8-8 GLIAC)
LOCATION: Fisher Stadium – Midland, MI.
RECAP: Northwood softball comes back to take the first, and splits the doubleheader with Davenport.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers got on the board with a single run in the top of the first, 1-0 DU.
- A solo shot in the second would extend the Panther's lead to 2-0.
- Jillian Krawczak stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the second and tied the game with a 2-run home run to right-center. This was Krawczak's first career home run.
- Davenport took the lead back in the third with an RBI groundout.
- DU added three runs in the fourth to make the score 6-2.
- The Panther offense continued with two runs in the fifth to lead 8-2.
- The bottom of the fifth was huge for the Timberwolves. Delanie Grundman got the NU scoring started with an RBI groundout.
- A RBI single by Brittany Steimel bring home Haley Frank to keep the lineup moving.
- Krawczak would follow with added a two-run single to get Northwood within two.
- The Timberwolves tied the game as Gabby Schloop reached first on an error in left field, scoring two unearned runs to make it 8-8.
- Northwood made a statement in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of home runs by Emily Mankel (4) and Brittany Steimel (5) in the bottom of the sixth. Both blasts went over the right-center, 10-8 NU.
- Anna Gustafson would nail down the win in the seventh, earning the 10-8 victory.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- DU took the lead early with three runs in the top of the first.
- The Panthers put the score at 7-0 with four runs in the second.
- Two more runs in the top of the fourth gave Davenport the 9-0 lead.
- Alexis Koehler kept the game alive with a two-run single to left field in the bottom of the fifth, bringing NU within 9-2.
- Both teams were held scoreless over the final two innings as DU won 9-2.
