Kahlig Leads Oilers to 83-67 Win Over Walsh

Box Score

The University of Findlay men's basketball team captured an 83-67 win over Walsh University on Thursday, Feb. 21 in Croy Gymnasium.  The victory gives the Oilers an 18-6 record on the season with a 15-5 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers received a career performance from junior forward Greg Kahlig, who torched the Cavaliers for a career-high 38 points on 13-of-20 shooting.  He made 5-of-9 shot attempts from behind the three point line and also converted 7-of-8 attempts from the charity stripe.

Kahlig's 38 points were the most an Oilers player has scored in a game since NCAA Division II National Player of the Year Josh Bostic put up 37 in Findlay's 89-86 overtime win over Bellarmine University on March 17, 2009 in the regional final at Croy Gymnasium.

Senior forward Brad Piehl and sophomore forward Jake Heagen also reached double figures with 11 and ten points, respectively.  Heagen added seven rebounds while Piehl grabbed six.

The Oilers, who claimed at least a share of the GLIAC South Division title with the victory, shot 46.6 percent (27-of-58) from the floor and held a 17-4 advantage in fast break points.

The Cavaliers, who shot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from the field, were led by Kenny Kornowski's 29 points.

The Oilers will be on the road for the final time during the regular season on Saturday as they travel to Canton, Ohio to take on Malone University.  The game is scheduled to tip at 1 p.m.
