Oilers Come Up Short at Ferris St.

The University of Findlay men's basketball team lost 72-69 to Ferris State University on Jan. 2 in Big Rapids, Mich. The loss gives the Oilers a 5-5 record on the season with a 2-3 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Oilers shot 43.1 percent (31-of-72) from the floor and forced 19 turnovers in the game. The Bulldogs meanwhile hit 50 percent (27-of-54) of their shots and held a 40-33 advantage on the boards. Ferris State also went 12-of-18 (66.7%) from the free throw line while the Oilers only made three trips to the charity stripe in the game, making all of them.

Sophomore guard Martyce Kimbrough led the way with 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Senior forward John Staley had 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting while freshman forward Alex White had ten points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals off the bench.

Junior forward Tyler Stern-Tucker chipped in six points and four rebounds while sophomore forward Taren Sullivan had four points, three assists, two steals and two boards in the loss.

The Oilers will be back in action again tomorrow when they battle Grand Valley State University at 3pm in Allendale, Mich.
