Kaufman Leads Oilers to 80-69 Win over Chargers

The University of Findlay men's basketball team remained perfect at home with an 80-69 victory against Hillsdale College on Jan. 9. The win gives the Oilers an 8-5 record on the season with a 5-3 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Oilers shot 47.1 percent (32-of-68) from the field and held the Chargers to a 41.7 percent (25-of-60) shooting clip in the game. The Oilers also dominated the glass as they held a 47-29 advantage on the boards. 15 of their 47 rebounds were on the offensive glass.

Senior guard Dylan Kaufman produced his best game of the year in the win, scoring a season-high 18 points to go along with a career-high 12 rebounds for his first career double-double. Kaufman hit 7-of-14 shot attempts, which included a 4-of-8 showing from three point land. The Berlin, Ohio native grabbed eight offensive rebounds in the game and also chipped in three assists.

Sophomore guard Martyce Kimbrough continued his solid play this year with 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting while senior forward John Staley contributed 12 points, four rebounds and three steals, hitting all six of his shot attempts in the win.

Sophomore forward Taren Sullivan flirted with a triple-double in the game and produced a stat line of 11 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Sullivan's seven assists established a new career-high.

Sophomore guard Austin Gardner added eight points while junior forward Tyler Stern-Tucker had eight points, nine rebounds and three assists off the bench for the Oilers.

The Chargers were led by Kyle Cooper's 20 points and eight rebounds.

The Oilers will be back at home on Thursday, Jan. 14 to host Ohio Dominican University at 7:30 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
