Tennis Advances to Second Round of GLIAC Tournament With 4-0 Win Over Lake Superior State

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Saginaw Valley State University tennis team defeated fifth-seeded Lake Superior State 4-0 to advance to the second round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) tournament on Friday afternoon.

Adriana Barrio and Tara Erler earned a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles while Johanna Michahelles and Lydia Liong won 6-2 in No. 3 doubles to clinch the 1-0 lead early in the match.

Amelia Dickson was victorious at number five singles to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead. Tara Erler finished No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win to put SVSU just one more win away from the clinch. Lydia Liong sealed it with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles to propel the Cardinals to the next round of the tournament.
