Oilers End Season With 49-28 Win Over Walsh

The University of Findlay football team ended their season with a 49-28 win at home over Walsh University on Nov. 16 at Donnell Stadium.  The Oilers end the season with an 8-3 record, which includes a 6-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers trailed the Cavaliers 7-3 at the end of the first quarter, but put up 18 points in the second period to take a 21-14 lead at the break.  They then scored 14 points in each of the final two quarters to earn their eighth win of the year, the most since winning nine games during the 2002 campaign.

Findlay racked up 497 yards of total offense and were led by junior quarterback Devontae Payne, who completed 24-of-34 passing attempts for 296 yards and four touchdowns.

Freshman running back Anthony Linnear recorded 21 carries for 111 yards and a score while senior running back Demetrius Trapps had 11 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown.

Trapps also returned one kickoff in the game for 17 yards, giving him a school record 65 kick returns in his career.

Junior wide receiver Lloyd Henry made eight catches for 94 yards and a touchdown.  He finishes the season with 71 catches for 951 yards.  His catch total is the second highest single-season mark in school history while his receiving yards is the fourth highest mark in UF history.

Senior tight end Jaryd Brown closed his career with six receptions for 67 yards and two touchdowns while junior Verlon Reed made two catches for 56 yards and a score.

Senior receiver Seth White added two catches for 20 yards and ends his career with a total of 149 receptions, the best mark in school history.

Senior linebacker Kenny Klatt led the defense with ten tackles while junior defensive back Harold Jones-Quartey picked off a pass.

Senior linebacker Zach Kinninger made four stops and returned a fumble 23 yards for a touchdown in the game while junior defensive end Kevin Brewton added another sack and finishes his season with a league-high 11 sacks.
