Cardinals unable to solve Storm in 1-0 loss

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2021 season, falling to Lake Erie College in a neutral site matchup Sunday in Tiffin, Ohio.

The Storm scored the game's lone goal in the third minute and held off a constant Cardinal attack to escape with the 1-0 win. The loss drops (RV) SVSU to 3-1-0 overall this season.

The Cardinals outshot the Storm 23-3 and missed a penalty kick shortly after the Storm took the lead. Lake Erie goalkeeper Tomas Wroblewski made 13 saves in the contest.

Danny Barlow led the Cardinals with eight shots, including six on goal. Mason Maziasz made one save in net for the Cardinals, dropping to 1-1-0 this season.

SVSU prepares to open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play against Northern Michigan University at 1 pm Friday at Braddock Field.
