UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University football team will play its third consecutive road game this weekend, as the Cardinals look to bounce back from a tough loss in a non-conference matchup with Wayne State University at 6 pm Saturday in Detroit.

The Cardinals scored on the final play of regulation to push the Bulldogs to overtime. After FSU scored and converted for two points, SVSU faced an eight-point deficit. Casey Williams caught a fourth-down touchdown pass, but the ensuing two-point conversion was unsuccessful, giving Ferris State the 47-45 win.

The loss dropped SVSU to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the GLIAC.

The Wayne State Warriors have had a difficult start to the season, falling to No. 5 Slippery Rock in the opener by a score of 24-21, and dropping their most recent matchup to Missouri S&T 51-45 in overtime.

Against Missouri S&T, Wayne State set a school record with 673 yards of total offense, just eclipsing the previous school mark of 671 set by the 1967 Tartars in a Sept. 30 contest at Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  WSU out-gained the Miners 230-138 on the ground, and 443-361 through the air.
