Cardinal Tennis falls to Findlay on the road

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team returned to action against the University of Findlay Saturday in Findlay, Ohio.

The Cardinals dropped the match 5-2 to fall to 0-4 overall this season. SVSU fell in all three doubles matches but battled back in the singles competition. The Cardinals won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, falling in a tightly contested No. 5 singles match.

Hightlights:

  • Joanne Gao took her match at No. 2 singles, defeating Findlay's Luciana Pereyra 6-4, 6-2.
  • Chelsea Dzenga edged Emily Hadler 6-4 in the first before controlling the second set 6-1 for a win at No. 3 singles.
  • Nicole Johnson pushed the first set at No. 5 singles to a tiebreaker, falling 7-6 (8-6). She battled in the second set before Findlay's Madison Arquette prevailed 6-4.

The Cardinals remain on the road to take on Ursuline College at noon Sunday in Pepper Pike, Ohio.
