Toledo, OhioSaginaw Valley State University had a trip down to play Ohio Dominican University Tuesday afternoon for a one-game, non-conference series. SVSU (8-9) had a tough start to the game with the Panthers (9-10) who put up double digit runs in a 18-5 Cardinal loss.

Cardinal starter Jackson Decker (L, 0-1) had three runs against in his one inning of work. SVSU used six bullpen arms following Decker. Christopher Schmees pitched one inning, giving up six runs on seven hits. Thomas Shipley worked 1 2/3 innings striking out three batters and allowing three runs. Carson Bassett had five runs against, only two earned, in 1 1/3 innings of work. Drew Cooper pitched a scoreless sixth inning. Kameron Marnon gave up one run in the seventh. Lastly, Matt Montroy struck out one in his one inning to wrap up the eighth.

SVSU got on the board in the fourth. Colin Cornwell singled to start the inning, extending his hit streak to 12-games. After Martin Money reached on a fielder's choice, Austin Schweiger smashed his first home run of the season making it a 10-2 game for Ohio Dominican.

Saginaw Valley got two more runs in the sixth. Cornwell doubled to lead it off before Money doubled him home. He advanced on a fly ball before Connor Cornwell drove him in with an RBI single making it 17-4.

In the seventh, Reed Raymond singled and advanced to third on a balk and then a wild pitch. Mark Harden III singled him home with his first hit and first RBI of his Cardinal career.

Colin Cornwell finishing 2-for-2, Money finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Connor Cornwell finishing 2-for-3 were the bright spots in the Cardinal batting order. SVSU accumulated 12 hits, but the Panther offense was too great.
