SVSU volleyball falls to Wayne State in three

DETROIT - The Saginaw Valley State University women's volleyball team fell to Wayne State University in straight sets on Saturday afternoon in Detroit. The Warriors won the first two sets with identical scores of 25-20 and took set three 25-22 to earn the victory. The Cardinals fall to 12-8 overall and 4-5 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

Rylee Zimmer led SVSU with nine kills and Madison Thompson added seven. Maria Vukaj tallied 10 digs, while Peyton Gerstacker had 26 assists. 

Wayne State was led by Lauren VanderWal with a match-high 15 kills. 

SVSU will remain on the road to take on Lake Superior State University at 4 pm Friday in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
