Ashland tops SVSU 2-0 Thursday in Ohio

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team closes the 2021 spring regular season with two straight road games, starting against Ashland University Thursday in Ashland, Ohio.

For the second straight game, the Cardinals failed to find the net, falling to the Eagles 2-0. SVSU drops to 2-5-0 overall and in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The game remained scoreless until Allison Robertson got the Eagles on the board in the 42nd minute. Ashland added an insurance goal from Faith Lewis in the 74th minute.

Alyssa Watts continued her strong play in net for the Cardinals, making eight saves in the loss. Reegan Kingvapong recorded two shots for the Cardinals, who were outshot 14-4.

The regular season closes for SVSU with a rivalry matchup at Northwood University at 2:30 pm Saturday in Midland, Mich.
