Madison Whitehead // Northern Michigan // Volleyball

Senior Madison Whitehead (Altoona, Wis.) has been recognized as a receipient of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Commissioners Award for Academic and Athletic Excellence for her success during the 2017 volleyball season.   

A biology and physiology double-major, Whitehead has achieved a 3.82 grade point average during her time at Northern Michigan University and was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team this past fall. 

 A first-team All-GLIAC honoree, she led the Wildcats with 326 kills, averaging 3.05 kills per set. she helped guide NMU to a 20-win season and their first GLIAC tournament win since the 2013 season. She was also named D2CCA First Team All-Region.  

Whitehead finished her Wildcat career with 1,323 kills, moving to third all-time in school history.  She also moved into fifth place at NMU with 354 total blocks and fourth with 314 block assists.
