TIFFIN, Ohio - Top-seeded Ashland University and second-seeded Tiffin University each advanced to the championship match of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Soccer tournament.
In the first semifinal match of the afternoon, Tiffin defeated the No. 3 seed, Northwood University, 2-0. Ashland downed fourth-seeded University of Findlay, 2-0, in the second semifinal match. Ashland and Tiffin will square off in the tournament's championship match on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

TIFFIN, Ohio –The Northwood University men's soccer team
dropped a 2-0 match to Tiffin in the semifinals of the GLIAC
Tournament Thursday (November 5).
Northwood's season comes to an end with a 6-9-2 record. Tiffin
advances to the finals with a 14-4-1 mark.
The Dragons netted the first goal of the game in the 15th minute,
the lone tally of the first half. Shots on goal in the opening 45
minutes were in favor of Tiffin 8-3, while Northwood held a 4-3
edge in corner kicks.
Tiffin then extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal off a rebound
in the first minute of the second half. Both teams had chances to
score down the stretch but were held off the board.
The Dragons held a 17-8 advantage in shots and a 7-5 edge in
corners for the match.
Northwood will lose three seniors for the 2010 season.

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Eagles moved into the championship game
of the GLIAC tournament by defeating Findlay, 2-0, on Thursday
(Nov. 5). The contest was played at the host school, Tiffin, and AU
(12-2-5) as the top seed won its third consecutive game without
allowing a goal.
Sophomore Andrew Iden ended the 0-0 tie early in the seventh
minute. Senior Ross Ashley passed the ball to Iden who knocked the
ball in from 10 yards out. It marked Iden’s fourth goal of
the season and Ashley’s second assist.
The score remained 1-0 until late in the second half when the
Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the 72nd minute. Senior Tom Rankin scored
his third goal of the season off of an assist from Iden. It marked
Iden’s second assist on the season.
It was a slightly different look for the Eagles as they started
freshman Justin Nolan in goal. Nolan earned his first career
victory as a keeper and his first career shutout. He made four
saves while earning his clean sheet.
Ashland plays the second-seeded host, Tiffin, on Saturday (Nov. 7)
at 1 p.m. Tiffin gained its entrance into the championship game
with a 2-0 victory over Northwood earlier in the day. Tiffin is the
defending GLIAC tournament champion. AU won the last meeting
between the two schools, 1-0, at Tiffin.
