ASHLAND, Ohio/DETROIT, Mich. - Ashland University, Saginaw Valley State University and Wayne State University advanced in Midwest Region play on Saturday, while Tiffin University was eliminated. Wayne State and SVSU will square off on Sunday in Midwest Region #1 action, while Ashland faces Lewis University in Midwest Regional #2. Both games will start at Noon.
Saturday's action in Midwest Regional #1 began with Wayne State downing Saginaw Valley State, 9-0, in five innings.
Later, SVSU needed a seventh inning rally to move into the NCAA Midwest Regional #1 final against Wayne State on Sunday (May 16) at Noon.
Ashland moved into the Midwest Region #2 final after posting a 2-1, nine-inning victory over Northern Kentucky University on Saturday.
Tiffin University (34-18) allowed 6 unearned runs in a tough performance, falling to Lewis 8-3 to end their season in the consolation round of the Midwest Region tourney.
