Allendale, Mich. -- The Grand Valley State University Women's Soccer team claimed the 2008 GLIAC Women's Soccer Tournament.

Ashland - The Eagles were idle last week, as their 2008 season is complete.

Ferris State - Senior forward Tammy Unsworth (White Lake/Walled Lake Northern) concluded her four-year (2005-08) career at Ferris State ranking second among the program's all-time leaders in both assists (22) and minutes played (4,546), third in both points (90) and goals (34), and tied for third in game-winning goals (seven)...Senior defender Jackie Back (Ortonville/Ortonville-Brandon) wrapped up her four-year (2005-08) Ferris State career as the school's career leader with 5,379 minutes played in 72 career matches. The FSU co-captain placed fourth among the 2008 team leaders in minutes played with a 1,433 season total in 17 outings. Back also finished tied for first place with Andrea Moma (2002-05) in career starts with 71 total...Ferris State's nine wins (9-9-1 overall) this fall represents a tie for the third most single-season victories in the program's history, matching the 2004 squad's nine wins total (9-9-1 overall). The school record for the highest season wins total is 11 established by the 2003 (11-5-1 overall) and 2005 (11-7-0) teams...Ferris State concluded the 2008 campaign with a 1.66 goals-against average (32 goals allowed) in 19 matches. In the 2007 season, the Bulldogs posted a 3.36 goals-against average (65 goals allowed) in 19 outings.

Findlay - The University of Findlay women's soccer team lost 3-0 to Saginaw Valley State University in the first round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Tuesday, November 4 in University Center, Michigan. The loss ends the Oilers season as they wrap up the year with a 6-11-1 record.

Grand Valley State - The Lakers held on to the No. 1 rank in the NSCAA/adidas national poll and claimed their second consecutive GLIAC Tournament Championship with wins over Ferris State (3-0) and Saginaw Valley State (2-0) in the second annual GLIAC Tournament...GVSU is still undefeated with a record of 21-0 overall, 14-0 GLIAC...GVSU has won 27 consecutive conference matches (t-3rd in Division II history) dating back to Sept. 29, 2006...GVSU has also won 38 consecutive regular season matches...The Lakers have not lost at home in a span of 42 matches (3rd all-time in Division II) dating back to Sept. 4, 2005...Through games on Nov. 2, Grand Valley State is the only team in Division II that has won every match and ranks first in shutout percentage (.842)...GVSU also ranks second in goals-against average (.21), fourth in save percentage (.902) and fifth in scoring offense (3.58)...The Lakers tied the Division II single-season record for shutouts with their 18th in a 2-0 win over Saginaw Valley State on Sunday...Senior goalkeeper Kristina Nasturzio (Mississauga, Ont.) recorded a shutout streak of 880:01 earlier this season, which ranks fifth all-time in Division II...Nasturzio has recorded 14 individual shutouts (t-4th in Division II history) and GVSU has shut out 18 of their 21 opponents...Individually, Nasturzio ranks second in Division II in goals-against average (.224) and fifth in save percentage (.902).

Northern Michigan - Ferris State defeated the Northern Michigan University women's soccer team in the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Soccer Tournament Tuesday. The Bulldogs scored two goals in the second 45 minutes to take the contest 2-0. Ferris defeated the Wildcats in all three meetings this season in shutouts (1-0, 3-0 and 2-0). The ‘Cats end the season at 11-9-1 while the Bulldogs advance in the GLIAC Tournament with a 9-8-1 slate. ..After a scoreless first half the Bulldogs found the back of the net twice in the second half. Both goals came within seconds of each other. A little over six minutes into the half, Maegan Smith gave Ferris the 1-0 lead with a goal at 46:18. Twenty-one seconds later Tammy Unsworth made the count 2-0 (46:39). ..Kara Music had eight saves for the day. Ferris had the advantage on shots (21-16), but corner kicks were even at five.

Northwood - The Timberwolves were idle last week, as their 2008 season is complete.

Saginaw Valley State - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team went 2-1 in the GLIAC Tournament over the weekend. The Cardinals won their quarterfinal match against Findlay, 3-0 (11/4) and defeated Tiffin by a score of 2-1 in their semifinal match-up (11/7) before losing to Grand Valley State, 2-0 in the Championship match. Senior forward Kim Oberski scored twice and junior forward Jaclyn Barrett added a goal in the shutout over Findlay. Barrett also added a goal versus Tiffin after the first goal for the Cardinals was the result of a Tiffin defender knocking the ball into their own net.

Tiffin - Shelly Rogers got the lone goal for the Dragons in the GLIAC Semifinals, scoring on her first shot on a pass from Renee Cain...Abby Grieser made 4 saves in goal in the game...Tiffin moved up to 4th in the Midwest Region prior to the semifinal game.
