Allendale, Mich. -- The Grand Valley State University Women's Soccer fell to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Midwest Region championship match on Friday (Nov. 21) by the score 1-0.

Grand Valley State - The Lakers lost their first match of the season in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championship, falling to #8 Wisconsin-Parkside (1-0)...GVSU was ranked No. 1 since the second week of play this season, all the way until their loss this past week...Grand Valley State finished the season with a record of 22-1 overall, 14-0 GLIAC...GVSU has won 27 consecutive conference matches (t-3rd in Division II history) dating back to Sept. 29, 2006...GVSU has also won 38 consecutive regular season matches...The Lakers had not lost at home in a span of 43 matches (3rd all-time in Division II) dating back to Sept. 4, 2005, before falling to the Rangers...Through games on Nov. 16, Grand Valley State was the only team in Division II that had won every match and ranked first in shutout percentage (.864)...GVSU also ranked first in goals-against average (.182), first in save percentage (.923) and fifth in scoring offense (3.41)...The Lakers set a new Division II single-season record for shutouts with their 19th against Quincy (2-0)...Senior goalkeeper Kristina Nasturzio (Mississauga, Ont.) recorded a shutout streak of 880:01 earlier this season, which ranks fifth all-time in Division II...Nasturzio recorded 15 individual shutouts (t-3rd in Division II history) and GVSU shut out 19 of their 23 opponents...Individually, Nasturzio ranked first in Division II in goals-against average (.192) and second in save percentage (.923)...Senior forward Katy Tafler (Mississauga, Ont.) ranked 10th in assists per game (.59), 10th in points per game (2.41) and 17th in goals per game (.909)...Earlier this season, Tafler became the first player in GLIAC history, and only the 17th in Division II history, to record at least 40 goals and 40 assists (114/41)...In Division II history, Tafler ranks third in both goals (114) and points (269)...Senior forward Ashley Elsass (Powell, Ohio) ranks 29th in points per game (1.95) and 28th in assists per game (.50)...Junior forward Irie Dennis also ranks 28th in assists per game (.50)...Tafler leads the team with 20 goals, 13 assists and 53 points on the season.
