Bay City, Mich.--Wayne State's Natalia Buso (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Oswald) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's swimming athlete of the week as announced by the league office.

Wayne State University senior Natalia Buso (Sao Paulo, Brazil) finished in a tie with Hilary Callen of Denison for first place in the 1000-yard freestyle at WSU's three-team meet last Saturday. Buso's time of 10:28.36 improved upon her previous national qualifier by nearly 13 seconds. She also finished second in the 500-yard free (5:13.26) and led off the fifth-place 400-yard free relay as Wayne State defeated both Calvin and Denison in its home pool.
