Nine GLIAC Student-Athletes Named to the 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Teams

BAY CITY, Mich. - The 2011 CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Teams were announced by the Academic All-America® Committee.  Nine Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) student-athletes earned Academic All-District honors. The GLIAC student-athletes earning this award are:

District 4 College Division

Women's First Team

Catherine Leix, Swimming and Diving, Senior, Wayne State University

Men's First Team

Matthew Laschuk, Swimming and Diving, Junior, Wayne State University

Kyle Wittenbach, Golf, Senior, Ferris State University

Men's Second Team

Oscar Gamarra, Tennis, Sophomore, Wayne State University

Joshua Wolfe, Golf, Senior, Ohio Dominican University

District 5 College Division

Women's First Team

Maura Donahue, Swimming and Diving, Sophomore, University of Indianapolis

Meghan Donahue, Swimming and Diving, Junior, University of Inianapolis

Men's First Team

Austin Biefnes, Swimming and Diving, Junior, University of Inianapolis

The 2011 Capital One Academic All-District ® At-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance in athletics and the classroom.

The Academic All-District ® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.  The University Division team includes NCAA Division I participants, while the College Division team combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the national Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where First, Second and Third Team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
