UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Athletics Department hosted a Breast Cancer Survivor Recognition and Reception event on Saturday, Feb. 20.  The event was held in conjuction with SVSU's women's basketball game versus Grand Valley State University and the GLIAC's Pinkwave initiative to raise funds for breast cancer research.

SVSU had 37 survivors attend the Recognition and Reception, which is just over double last year's number of 18 survivors.  The University raised just over $2,800, which will be contributed to the Covenant HealthCare Foundation Breast Health Center CARE Fund.  During the recognition, SVSU's men's basketball players escorted the Survivors to half-court, where they were greeted by our sponsors and received a gift basket filled with donated items.  Dr. Ernie Balcueva and Dr. Sussan Bays addressed topics concerning Breast Cancer research with the group as well.
