Findlay to Host NCAA D-II Men's Basketball Midwest Region Tournament

Indianapolis, Ind. -- The NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee has announced that the University of Findlay has earned the No. 1 seed and the right to host the D-II Midwest Region tournament which begins on Saturday, Mar. 14. Lake Superior State University and Grand Valley State University have also earned NCAA postseason berths.

The Oilers, who finished the regular season with a perfect 30-0 record, have been ranked first in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II poll all season.  Findlay will face GLIAC rival Grand Valley State University (21-9) in the Midwest Region quarterfinals.  The Oilers have defeated the Lakers three times this season, most recently on Saturday in the finals of the GLIAC tournament (67-56).

Lake Superior State University also earned an at-large berth into the regional tournament as the No. 6 seed.  The Lakers, who claimed the 2009 GLIAC North Division Championship, were defeated by GVSU in the GLIAC Tournament semifinals (81-69).

The winner of the tournament will then advance to the Elite Eight in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 25.

Tickets for the event will go on sale Monday, March 9 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the UF Ticket Office.
