Findlay Remains On Top of NCAA D-II Men's Basketball Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS --- The NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee has released this week's Division II men's basketball regional rankings.  The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesdays through March 4, 2009.  NCAA.com will stream the Men's and Women's Basketball show live on Sunday, March 8, beginning at 9 p.m.

The University of Findlay, Lake Superior State University, Hillsdale College, and Grand Valley State University and are the GLIAC's representatives in this week's poll.

The top ranked Oilers earned a pair of road wins in the GLIAC last week after defeating Michigan Tech 64-36 and Northern Michigan 81-68...The Oilers have now won their first 24 games of the season and have gone undefeated on the road in the GLIAC for the second time

With Thursday's 80-70 win at Grand Valley State, Lake Superior State swept GVSU during the regular season for the first time since the 1986-87 season...With Saturday's 76-69 win at Ferris State, the Lakers won the GLIAC North Division title for the first time since the league split into divisions in 1996-97...With two regular-season games remaining, they are now gunning for their first 20-win season since they were 20-8 in 1995-96.

The Hillsdale College men's basketball team completed a weekend sweep on the road for the third time this season, defeating Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech...The Chargers have won two straight games in Houghton vs. the Huskies...Hillsdale is 9-2 in its past 11 games, and has equaled last year's win total of 14...Six of the team's last nine wins have come by eight points or less ... Senior Tony Gugino set new season-highs in both points (30) and rebounds (16) in Thursday's win at Northern Michigan.

GVSU had its home win-streak of eight games snapped with a loss against Lake Superior State (80-70) before rebounding with a win over Saginaw Valley State (74-61)...Senior forward Pete Trammell (Jenison, Mich.) led the team in scoring by averaging 24.0 points per game...Trammell now has 1,107 points during his illustrious GVSU career, putting him into 27th place all-time at Grand Valley State.
