MARQUETTE, Mich. - Grand Valley State University posted a wire-to-wire win at the 2009 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Golf Championship on the Greywalls Golf Course at the Marquette Golf Club (Marquette, Mich.).
The Lakers recorded a three-round total of 881, 29-over-par, defeating second place University of Findlay by 20 strokes (901). GVSU was able to card the great scores despite cold winds and rain that plagued the three-day tournament.
Ferris State University senior Eric Lilleboe (Okemos, Mich./Lansing Catholic Central) claimed individual medalist honors after tallying rounds of 70, 70, and 69 for a four-under-par total of 209. Lilleboe posted a seven-stroke victory over Grand Valley State University's Mike Basinski (Grand Rapids, Mich.), GVSU's Matt Malloure (Farmington Hills, Mich,/Brother Rice), and Wayne State University's Eric Johnson (Marquette, Mich.).
