Ashland, Ohio -- The Tiffin University Men's Soccer team claimed the 2008 GLIAC Men's Soccer Tournament, the school's first championship as a member of the conference.

Ashland - The Eagles lost in the opening round of the GLIAC tournament last week to Saginaw Valley State, 4-2. The loss puts Ashland's record at 15-3-2. AU should be in position to make the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2003. In the loss to the Carndinals, junior Adam Spannbauer scored his 16th goal of the season to continue his team lead. Junior Tom Mangotic scored Ashland's other goal, his sixth of the year. Freshman Kenny Hewitt added an assist to tie senior Tom Rankin as the team leader with nine assists.

Findlay -
The Oilers were idle last week, at their 2008 season is complete.

Northwood - The Northwood University men's soccer team saw its 2008 season come to an end with a 4-2 loss to Tiffin in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals Thursday night (November 6)...The Timberwolves got on the board in the opening 10 minutes, as Ryan Morales (Brandon, Mich.) headed in a feed from Ross Aitchison (Berwick, Scotland) to give Northwood an early 1-0 lead. But the Dragons responded with three goals before the half to take a 3-1 lead to the break...NU eventually cut the lead to 4-2 in the 61st minute on a penalty kick goal by Aitchison...Northwood finished with a 19-14 edge in shots on goal for the game, while Tiffin had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Saginaw Valley State -
Saginaw Valley State University won two matches this week and lost one in the GLIAC Finals. In the regular season finale on Sunday (November 2), the Cardinals pounded five goals against Northwood University as senior defender Larry Ferreira (London, Ont.) scored two goals, while senior midfielder John Pizanis (East Lansing, Mich.), and senior midfielder Matt Weigand (Dearborn, Mich.) and junior midfielder Colin Selahowski (Holy, Mich.) each scored once. In the GLIAC semifinals, senior forward Brent Walker (Owosso, Mich.) scored twice, senior forward Kevin Fox (Flushing, Mich.) and Wiegand each scored once to beat top-seeded Ashland University 4-2 on Thursday (November 6). In the GLIAC Finals on Saturday, (November 8) the Cardinals lost to Tiffin, 4-2. Juniors Brock Humphries (Shelby Township, Mich.) and Vinny Vasilevski (Shelby Township, Mich.) each scored a goal. Junior goalkeeper Piotr Kazmierczak (Stargard, Poland) accumulated a 2-1 record on the week, with 14 saves in the three games. SVSU finishes the season with an 8-10-2 record overall, and were 2-6 in the GLIAC.

Tiffin - Ashton Campbell accounted for 3 goals and an assist as the Dragons won the GLIAC Championship. He had 2 goals against Northwood and a goal and assist against the Cardinals in the championship game. Campbell was also named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year by vote of the conference coaches...Rhys Cannella and Tony Iyayi scored goals against Northwood, while Ryan Kiekbusch added an assist...Jeff Frisch went 2-0 in the nets, making 11 saves in the two games...Michael O'Neill had a goal and assist in the championship game, as did Roger Kummer...Ryan Kiekbusch had a goal in the title game, while Cannella added an assist.
