Ashland's James Livingston Named GLIAC Men's Soccer "Player of the Week"

Bay City, Mich. -- Ashland University senior midfielder James Livingston (Aughton, England) has been chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week as announced by the conference office.

Ashland University senior midlfielder James Livingston scored his first goal of the season on Monday (Sept. 22) in a 4-2 victory over Ohio Dominican. He added another goal, and assisted on the game winning tally as AU defeated Northwood on Friday (Sept. 26), 2-1. Livingston's two goals came on just three shots for a .667 shooting percentage. Livingston helped the Eagles to improve to 9-0 on the season, and 2-0 in the GLIAC.

Ashland - Ashland went 3-0 over the past week. AU earned victories over Ohio Dominican, Northwood, and Saginaw Valley State. The victories improved the Eagles to 9-0, 2-0 on the season. Senior James Livingston scored his first goal of the year against Ohio Dominican, and added another goal and assist against Northwood. Junior Adam Spannbauer continued his GLIAC leading goal scoring, putting in a goal in each match to give him 12 on the season. His 12 goals have come on just 25 shots for a .480 shooting percentage. Ashland was ranked 15 in the nation in the most recent nscaa/addidas national rankings.

Findlay - The Oilers wrapped up the week with a 2-0 record to bring them to 4-4 on the season... Kevin Misteravich won both of his starts in goal for the Oilers after making seven saves in Findlay's 3-1 win over Ohio Valley and then shutting out Urbana 1-0...He made four saves in his first career shutout victory...On the season, Brennan Williams has scored 10 points to lead the team while B.J. Goodwin has scored five.

Northwood - The Northwood University men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-1 contest at No. 15 Ashland Friday in their lone action of the week ... the loss snapped the Timberwolves four-game winning streak ... NU now stands at 4-4 overall, 2-1 in the GLIAC ... the Eagles earned the win in the opening 27 minutes, netting both of their goals to take the lead to halftime ... Northwood was the better team in the second half, scoring the only goal and finishing with advantages in shots (7-5) and corners (4-2) ...  NU's goal came from Art Neilson (Glasgow, Scotland) off a rebound ... the Timberwolves would generate chances down the stretch, but were unable to net the tying score ... final stats proved to be even - Ashland had an 11-10 edge in shots, while Northwood had a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks ... the Timberwolves have some time off now - they will return to action at Findlay October 10.

Saginaw Valley State - Saginaw Valley State University tied one, and lost one match this week against Seton Hill (9/26), and Ashland (9/28). In the tie against Seton Hill, junior Vinny Vasilevski (Shelby Township, Mich.) scored at the 56 minute mark to lock the score at 1-1. In the loss to Ashland, the Cardinals' senior Brent Walker (Owosso, Mich.) found the back of the net at the 87 minute mark for SVSU's lone goal of the game. This week, the Cardinals are looking for a win at home against Indianapolis University (10/4).

Tiffin - Michael O'Neill (MF, FR, Luton, England) scored a goal and an assist in 3-2 road win at Seton Hill, giving TU their first lead in the 40th minute and then assisting the gamewinning goal in the 72nd minute... Byron Kaverman and Ashton Campbell had goals in the win at Seton Hill, with Campbell getting the gamewinner. Kaverman, Campbell, and O'Neill all share the team lead in goals scored with 4, while Campbell leads the team in points with 13.
