AU's Ross Ashley Chosen as GLIAC Men's Soccer "Player of the Week"

Bay City, Mich.--Ashland University junior forward Ross Ashley (Ashland, Ohio) was chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer "Player of the Week" as announced by the league office.

Junior Ross Ashley scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season last week, leading Ashland to a pair of GLIAC wins. Against Tiffin on Friday, Ashley scored the game winning goal in the 75th minute to give AU a 3-2 victory. He also assisted a goal earlier in the contest. On Sunday, Ashley scored the first and game winning goal against Findlay. He assisted on the second goal that the Eagles scored as well. Ashley is an integral part of the Eagles 11-0 success. He has five goals, four assists, and 14 points on the season.

Ashland - The Eagles improved to 11-0 on the season, their best start to a season in school history. AU earned victories over conference opponents Tiffin and Findlay. Against Tiffin, junior Adam Spannbauer scored his 13th and 14th goals of the season. The 14 goals marks the third highest total in a single season in school history. He has scored the 14 goals on just 30 shots for a .467 shooting percentage. Junior Ross Ashley scored his fourth and fifth goal over the weekend, one each against Tiffin and Findlay. Ashley also assisted on two goals over the weekend, one in each match. Ashland plays one match this week traveling to Notre Dame College on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 4 pm.

Findlay - The Oilers split a pair of games last week, winning 3-1 over Lake Erie and losing 3-0 to Ashland... Sophomore Brennan Williams scored his fifth goal of the season against Lake Erie...Freshman Teddy Greschel came off the bench to score the other two goals in the win. 

Northwood -The Northwood men's soccer team was off this week ... they return to action Friday (October 10) at Findlay before traveling to Tiffin on Sunday (October 12).

Saginaw Valley State - Mens Soccer tied this past week past weekend with Indianapolis 2-2. The Cardinals could not capitalize on a late break away by senior forward Brent Walker that would have given SVSU the win. The Cardinals move their season record to 2-4-2. SVSU is led in scoring by Vinny Vasilevski who has recorded three goals for a total of six points on the season. The Cardinals have been out shot on goal by their opponents 59-49 this season. The Cardinals will host Davenport this week on Wednesday before hitting the road to play against Findlay and Tiffin in GLIAC action over the weekend.

Tiffin - Michael O'Neill assisted both goals in Tiffin's narrow 3-2 loss to regionally-ranked Ashland. O'Neill leads the Dragons with 6 assists.Ashton Campbell scored his team-leading 5th goal against the Eagles. Tony Iyayi also netted a goal against Ashland.
