Ashland Eagles

No. 12 Ashland ended its season with a 3-1 loss at No. 21 Missouri S&T in the NCAA Midwest Regional Semifinal at Northern Kentucky on Friday. The Eagles entered the tournament as the second seed in the Midwest Region. Jamie Dollar (Perrysburg, Ohio) scored the lone goal for Ashland. It tied the score at 1-1 in the 28th minute, but a pair of goals by the Miners in the final seven minutes of the game helped them advance in their first postseason appearance. It was the third straight NCAA Tournament bid for the Eagles and the third straight time they were the GLIAC’s lone representative in the postseason. Freshman Louis Clark (Brighton, England/Hove Park) led the Eagles with 15 goals this season, which ties for the third-most in AU single-season history. Junior Kenny Hewitt (Brighton, England/Longhill) and senior Mike Kennedy (Liverpool, England/Ormskirk/Manchester Metropolitan University) led the Eagles with six assists each. Hewitt is third in AU history with 18 career helpers. Sophomore Justin Nolan (Medina, Ohio/Highland) stopped 64 shots on the season and had the fifth-best single season goals against average (1.16). This was the first team in program history to not be shut out. AU shut out its opponent nine times this season.
