LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The defending Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament champion Grand Valley State softball team was selected 3rd in the 2020 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Pre-Season Coaches' Poll.
The Lakers, who finished 51-10 last season, earned their ninth straight – and 17th overall – NCAA Tournament appearance at the end of a 2019 campaign that saw them finish 24-6 in the league. Head coach Dana Callihan enters 2020 with a 203-67 record in her six years at the helm of the program.
Southern Indiana (41-23) was the unanimous No. 1-ranked team with 16 first-place votes.
GVSU opens its season at home against Illinois Springfield on Feb. 14.
