#8 GLIAC NORTH VOLLEYBALL PRESEASON COACHES POLL
LAKE SUPERIOR STATE LAKERS (2-24 ALL, 1-17 GLIAC)

Lake Superior State Volleyball Preview | Roster | Schedule

Lake Superior State enters its’ 42nd season of volleyball with the program’s new head coach, Mallory Larranaga. Larranaga, the seventh coach in the history of the program, assumes the void left by Jennifer Constantino who resigned from her head coaching position to become LSSU’s full-time NCAA compliance and Title IX officer.

The Lakers will be led by upperclassmen: senior and team-leader in blocks (37) Sydne McMullen, assists leader (528) red-shirt junior Janelle Nagy, and junior Jen Marren who led the  team in kills with 170. McMullen, the Lakers’ lone senior, also was a dominating force up-front racking up 146 kills, good for second on the team. She also finished second only to sophomore Elizabeth Ballor’s .199 attack-percentage with a .178 clip.

Nagy and fellow red-shirt junior Jenna Kilmer (1.25 kills/set) will be depended on to shore up a leadership role as well this season. Both Nagy and Kilmer arrived at Lake Superior State with McMullen in 2012. Nagy is also the team’s returning digs leader with 177 and will have to help fill the void left by last year’s senior libero Megan Drobish, who had 380 digs. Nagy also led the team in service aces with 38 last year.

Marren is an outside hitter that led the Lakers in kills last season with 170, while not appearing in 10 of the team’s sets. The junior was the 2013 co-winner of LSSU's female freshman of the year award after finishing second on the team in average kills per set (2.84).

The Lakers open up their 42nd season of volleyball on Sept. 3 against GLIAC rival Northern Michigan as part of the Wildcat Open.
