NU's Harding, FSU's Hursey Claim GLIAC Golf Weekly Awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its golfer weekly awards following the fourth week of tournaments. Ferris State freshman Thomas Hursey claimed Men's Golfer of the Week honors, while Northwood sophomore Sydni Harding earned Women's Golfer of the Week accolades.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Thomas Hursey - Ferris State

Ferris State University's Thomas Hursey emerged as the individual medalist at the Cav Classic hosted by Walsh University on Monday and Tuesday (April 5-6) in Canton, Ohio. Hursey led the Bulldogs to a third-place team finish by carding a 54-hole score of five-under par 211 at the Glenmoor Country Club. He shot a one-under 71 in the first round followed by back-to-back two-under 70 scores the final two rounds. FSU held the lead going into the final round behind the play of Hursey on the 6,854-yard course.

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Sydni Harding - Northwood

Sydni Harding took medalist honors against a strong field at the NC4K College Classic Monday-Tuesday (April 5-6). She carded rounds of 73 and 74 on a difficult Jefferson Country Club course to place first out of 82 players. Ten of the top 83 players in Division II according to the latest Golfstat rankings were in the field. It was the second tournament victory of Harding's career.
