SVSU's Monney and NMU's Hoffman claim GLIAC men's soccer weekly awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following week 3 of the 2022 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley State sophomore forward Jonathan Monney earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades for the second straight week, while Northern Michigan freshman defender Jan Hoffman received GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jonathan Monney, Saginaw Valley State

The No. 13 Saginaw Valley State University men’s soccer team opened the GLIAC season with a pair of home wins last week to improve to 5-0-1 overall. Jonathan Monney continues to impress in his first season with SVSU, scoring three goals in the two contests, including both game winners. Monney now has eight goals on the season to lead the Cardinals.  


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jan Hoffman, Northern Michigan

Jan Hoffmann scored in NMU's first GLIAC game, a 4-2 win over Upper Iowa. Hoffmann added an assist in the second game, helping NMU pitch a 3-0 shutout over St. Cloud State with his efforts on each side of the ball. It was the freshman's first goal and assist of his collegiate career, marking a three-point weekend as NMU is 2-0 in the GLIAC.
