SVSU's Choi and GVSU's Miron earn golfer of the week awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly men's and women's golf awards. Grand Valley State sophomore Megan Miron claimed top honors in women's action, while Saginaw Valley State's Jiseung Choi was the men's athlete of the week.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Jiseung Choi - Saginaw Valley State

Sophomore Jiseung Choi helped the Cardinals finish second in the team standings while claiming individual medalist honors at last weekend's Al Watrous Invitational hosted by SVSU. The Houghton native shot a 68 on day one of the competition and concluded the tournament by carding a 71 on day two for an overall score of 139. Choi's score was one stroke better than three golfers tied for second place. For his efforts over the weekend, Choi was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week. Choi and the Cardinals will be back in action at the Doc Spragg Invitational hosted by Findlay University beginning on Monday in Findlay, Ohio.
 

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Megan Miron - Grand Valley State

Sophomore Megan Miron (Binbrook, Ont.) shot a 71 for the second-lowest round during the final day of competition at the Indianapolis Fall Invitational in Carmel, Ind., on Monday and Tuesday. Miron and teammate Kay Zubkus ended the 54-hole tournament tied for ninth at plus-12. Miron fired six birdies during the event and moved up 22 spots during the final 18-hole round.
