GVSU's Stone and Waeghe earn women's lacrosse weekly honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the fourth GLIAC Lacrosse Player of the Week awards for the 2023 season. Grand Valley State swept the honors with junior midfielder Sydney Stone receiving Offensive Player of the Week honors and freshman defender Kylie Waeghe earning Defensive Player of the Week.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Sydney Stone, Grand Valley State

Sydney Stone earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance this past weekend. This is the first GLIAC Player of the Week that Stone has earned in her career. In two games this weekend, she scored seven goals and had one assist for eight total points. She scored a career-high tying five goals in the win over Colorado Mesa, while also dishing out one assist. In the game against Regis on Sunday, Stone added two more goals to bring her total to 10 goals this season.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kylie Waeghe, Grand Valley State

Freshman defender Kylie Waeghe picked up her first career GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor following a strong weekend out in Colorado. Waeghe recorded 10 groundballs and four caused turnovers against two ranked opponents. In the win over Colorado Mesa, Waeghe picked up six groundballs and forced two turnovers, both of which set career-highs. Against Regis, she grabbed four groundballs and caused two more turnovers, while also picking up a draw control.
