GVSU's Crittenden and Rothe earn GLIAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the seventh GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2024 season. Grand Valley State swept the awards, with senior attack Hailey Crittenden receiving offensive player of the week honors and junior midfielder Ashleigh Rothe collecting defensive player of the week accolades.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Hailey Crittenden, Grand Valley State

Hailey Crittenden has been named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. She scored a career-high six goals in last Thursday’s 16-9 victory over Indianapolis. Crittenden had a hat trick already tallied by the end of the first half, then recorded three more in the second half to help secure the win. She also added an assist and three groundballs. Her six goals brought her to 19 on the year and helped the ninth-ranked Lakers move to 8-1 this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Ashleigh Rothe, Grand Valley State

GVSU junior midfielder Ashleigh Rothe took home GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors this week. Rothe grabbed four draw controls, picked up three groundballs, and forced two Greyhound turnovers. Her defensive effort played a big role in holding UIndy to their fewest shots of the season, their most turnovers of the year, and their lowest scoring total of the season. She also tallied a hat trick on just three shots, as the Lakers picked up a big 16-9 win over Indianapolis.
